Turns out when a store opens for the first time after the holiday they open really early and set off firecrackers for luck or something. Unfortunately it has been three sleepless mornings and we went downtown today and only about HALF the shops are open. So we can expect a few more crazy loud mornings until everything is open. I think the nighttime ones are just for kicks. I figured out the morning ones.
